In 1996, the Igreja Presbiteriana Betânia began an evangelistic outreach in one of the poorest slums in the community of Cafubá, a district within the city of Niterói, Brazil.
The social, economical, and spiritual difficulties affecting the community were appalling. Included among them were drug abuse, alcoholism, prostitution, sexual abuse, and extreme poverty.
Projeto Crescer Betânia serves a wide variety of needs in the community of Cafubá. Our focus is on four principal areas that can change lives among the children and families we serve:
• Intellectual Needs
• Spiritual Needs
• Social Needs
• Physical Needs
Projeto Crescer Betânia currently serves 81 children in the community, with a waiting list for over two dozen more.
At present, we are seeking additional partners willing to make a monthly investment toward our operating costs and investment in our facility. We are hoping to expand our services as well as provide a community facility on our campus.
